Today I found a New resource online that promotes science and students natural curiosity for it. I set up a temporary account for your child to use and explore it's features. If you are interested, there is an option to sign up on your own. It is offered by National Geographic and has security features in place. Enjoy! Extra Bonus: The students are still going CRAZY over the Weird but True books. Click on the picture above to find more hidden gems! The username and password are the same for this site: room311 Happy Mother's Day! I hope you all enjoyed the glorious weather and the special gift your child gave to you for Mother's Day. They spent several weeks working on it and were so proud of their efforts, clearly a testament of their love to their moms. On Friday we said our farewells to our student teacher, Ms. Duarte. Each student had a chance to sit with her and say good bye as she opened a specially selected chapter book that they handed to her to open. Thanks to your generous donations of books, we filled over 8 bins and filled a whole bookshelf! She was overjoyed and appreciated all the kind words and advice given to her by the students. Looks like I will be back to flying solo in the classroom this week as we gear up for the Math MCAS! On Tuesday 5/13 and Wednesday 5/14 we will have round two of MCAS as we tackle the Math portion.
It's hard to believe we are in the home stretch! Once the Math MCAS is over the real work begins. Keeping the students motivated and on task until June 23rd! Have no fear, STEM is here! I'm looking forward to the final weeks as we kick STEM into high gear! Until then, let's get ready to ROCK the math MCAS! I started the day Feeling THANKFUL! After a crazy week of Talent Show auditions, MCAS practices, Mother's Day Projects, Cashing out with Cha-Ching, Cloud Research, and preparing for Ms. Duarte's Last Day with us... I was taken back by the warm welcome I found as I arrived at school today! Room 311 is a great place to be each day, from the moment the buses arrive until the door of our classroom closes. In my 20+ years of teaching I have never regretted my decision to become a teacher, nor has there ever been a day when I woke up and said, "I don't want to go to work today." Thank you for your kind words, notes and emails, sweet treats, and tokens of appreciation bestowed upon me each day this week. I am grateful to work in the Mendon Upton Regional School District with such gracious and caring families! |
