We all work too hard and have too much on our plates.
Summer is the perfect time to let loose, relax, and recharge. We deserve to take this time to catch up with family and friends and have real, face to face, interactions.
Before the school year ended I was walking through the halls at Memorial when I spied some neon sand pails with shovels hanging in front of Ms Aube's classroom. Upon further investigation, I saw that they were "Summer Bucket Lists"! It was Genius! I quickly hopped on the bucket list bandwagon and did the same with my class.
We spent a great deal of time sharing ideas and thoughts about what our Summer bucket list would have on it. Each time an idea was shared there would be lots of chatter and excitement filled the room. Before each student came up with their own unique TOP 5 List, they really had to think long and hard. Once the final lists were made, we assembled our paper buckets and then hung our lists in the hallway for all to see.
The lists were not sent home until the last week of school. It was my hope that students would share their lists with their families and hopefully even "check off" an item or two.
Fast forward to July...You can not believe the delight I have had scrolling through facebook seeing so many bucket list items showing up! One simple project during the last month of school is creating a summer of unforgettable memories. I can't wait to hear the stories that go along with the photos.
Despite what you may see in the retail stores, summer clearance sales and school supplies filling the shelves...there is still a WHOLE lot of time left to check off your summer bucket list.
No List?
No worries!
