Every year as the final count down begins, I find myself recharging and preparing some of the BEST lessons of the year. It's this time of year where students are usually ready to check out and call it a day. The temperature rises and effort decreases. But for teacher's, it's a time to kick it up a notch, get creative, and pull out all the punches in order to keep the class on their toes and remain focussed through the final weeks.
Project based learning: Over the past few weeks we have spent a great deal of time becoming experts on a chosen non-fiction topic. Students were busy gathering data, taking notes, and organizing information found in many resources. This week they will pull it all together as they begin the next phase of the project, To create an A-Z alphabet book based on the research of their chosen topic. The Alphabet books are starting to shape up and the use of technology is impressive. They will be shared with our book buddies and then taken home for families to see.
Can we reach our goal of 100,000 math problems on IXL? Survey says... YES! Our goal for this week is to complete 100 math problems each night. Last week, disappointingly, 1/3 of our class did not complete the assigned math homework on IXL, I encourage you to keep your child in a routine as much as possible during this busy time. Their only homework for the week is IXL, so really, there are NO excuses! Thanks for supportng this at home.
