Here is the email we recieved this afernoon from Mrs Gale announcing the results:
"It was a close one as Mitt Romney won by ONE vote - At one point it was tied at 232 but we had a handful of students who had not voted yet - when they did the final numbers were:
Mitt Romney - 235
Barack Obama - 234
I was speaking with one of the reporters this afternoon who said that they were also covering schools in Auburn and Fitchburg and President Obama won by a huge margin - They found our results very interesting. Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow."
So there you have it, the students at Memorial had Mitt Romney winning the election. Did they predict our future or will we need to demand a recount?
If you're child is interested in following the electoral votes tomorrow, I have attached a fun chart for them to fill out as results are broadcast, if they'd like. Special thanks to Senora Cardamone for sharing this with the third grade team today!
Electoral Votes!
Also, with your permission, I have asked that students make an effort to go onto the website IXL tomorrow on their day off. By now they should have and know their login information. Today we went down to the technology lab and logged in to practice our math skills. I suggest that the students choose activities from the third grade curriculum, preferably skills that we have reviewed and worked with so far this year in either our Investigations Math or Every Day Counts.
The best part of IXL is that I am able to see each students actual minutes spent on the site, their scores, which problems they completed successfully, and which ones they needed more support on. I will be "paying" the students for their efforts through our cha-ching program. If your child does not have access to this website at home I will provide them with time in the am or while we are waiting for buses to be dismissed. ALL students will have equal access, please just let me know and I will arrange time for them at school.
I'm Mrs Webster and I approve this BLOG!
Don't Forget to VOTE!
