Mrs. Webster read us a book by Tomie dePaola, Legend of the Poinsettia, after she was done we got to make our own poinsettias while she was at a meeting.
First we had to get the supplies. Then we had to rip five red flower petals, five yellow ovals,
and then we glued it on a black paper.
When Mrs. Webster came in we all held our flowers up for her to see.
During reading we learned about endangered animals. At libary some students took out books about endangered animals and now we are all researching endangered animals.
First we took notes after reading our books on endangered animals. Then we started writing information down on a graphic organizer. Next when we finished the graphic organizer we copied it on to a rough draft. When we finish we will make a poster.
For our DeSTEMber challenge, we had to make a cup using a piece of paper. but without cutting, no gluing, and no ripping and that would hold water for ten seconds. Mrs. Webster said she was going to pour water in the cup, that this was a group project, and 1 paper would be given to each group. The group who can hold the most water wins.
To find out the results, be sure to ask a student in room 311!
December 7 was Hour of Code week. First, Mrs. Webster showed us how to get onto the website. Then she showed us how to Code, or play the game. After that we went to the computer lab to try coding and play the game. We think coding is really fun, but really hard at the same time.
Protecting the Islands is a book we read this week. First we read it to chapter 3 with a partner. After that we used our A.C.E. journals and wrote the answer to the question: How do you know Protecting the Island is a expository text?
We needed to Answer the question by Citing evidence and expanding on or explaining our answer.
