This week had all the makings to be a challenge; first full week in a long time, after a long holiday weekend, a full moon and snow! But Mrs. Webster has taught me well and we did not miss a beat. The students were wonderful and I loved having them to myself. They showed enthusiasm for every lesson, project and experience we assigned them. For example, I assigned the Holiday Book Project on Monday and by Wednesday more than half the students had chosen their books and began reading them. We also met with their first grade book buddies this week. Our class wasted no time reading to their buddies and utilizing comprehension strategies to help the first graders understand their reading. Mrs. Webster would have been very proud, I know I was!
We accomplished a lot this week and enjoyed a visit from Mrs. Swain. Mrs. Swain came to observe a lesson in our new math unit; surveys, line plots and graphs. She played “Guess My Rule” and saw a new SMART board in action. The students in Room 313 continue to impress me. I share with my own child (Derek-13, Jane and Henry -9) often my “new friends” from Mrs. Webster’s class. I wish they had the opportunity to meet your amazing children.
The students have been very supportive and enthusiastic during my weeks here at Memorial School. I feel I have learned as much from them as they have learned from me. Thank you for allowing me to work in your child’s class. Thank you Brenda! This last part of my journey to become a teacher has been an experience I will never forget. I am sad to leave but hope our paths cross again.
Signing off,
Rebecca Pittorino
Secret Agent Webster... Side Notes:
Mrs. Pittorino is truly a class act and I ask myself every day, "Who is mentoring who?" She continues to impress us with her amazing talent for utilizing technology in the classroom and engaging our students.
Although her take over week has officially ended, she will still be in our room until the 20th of December. I am always quick to remind her that I am not done learning from her yet! We are all lucky to have had this positive and rewarding experience.
