Hard Work ...Pays off. It wasn't all hard work this week. A few highlights included watching a video on Marc Brown, our featured Author of the Month.* Students learned a lot about his life and how he became a children's book Author. Mr. Brown also told us some secrets he does with his books and his children's names. After learning about Marc Brown as an Author, students had the chance to draw and paint their own pictures of Arthur, the famous character in his books. This was the first of many art projects we will integrate with our curriculum this year.
Next week we will add Science and Social Studies into our weekly schedule as well as begin to write personal narratives. Students will continue to have Math homework that reinforces what we've done in class. The math should not take them long to do as there are only a few problems on each page. I encourage your child to continue to log on to IXL for additional math practice. Be sure to check out the Homework page as I will try to update it on Mondays for the week.
I look forward to another "rock solid" week!
I welcome any questions or comments
and hope to meet you at Open House!
* Learning Lab, Look Back Letters will be coming home every Friday. Each wee your child will be writing you a letter summarizing thier week. I ask that you take a moment to read and respond to your child's letter. Journals will go home each week on Friday and will need to be returned by Monday if possible.
*Each month a new Author will be featured. We will study their work and try to learn from it as well as enjoy their stories. This month we are featuring Marc Brown. How to write and develop Personal Narratives, creative use of Dialogue, and clever Hooks are a few of the techniques we will try to learn from Marc Brown and incorporate into our own writing.
