1. Please make every effort to be on time for your conference, if you are late we will have less time than as planned. I understand that things come up, if you need to reschedule for any reason I am more than willing to do so.
2. If it is your time, and I am still conferencing, please be sure to knock on the door. This will signal to all parties that our time is up and others are waiting. At this time, if we have not finished discussing yoru child's progress, we can add an alternative day and time to meet and finish our conversation.
3. Prior to the conference in an effort to enhance communication and find out more about what YOU would like to know, please Think about the following questions:
-Do you have any specific areas that you want to be sure to address at the parent teacher conference?
-What questions do you have about your child's experience, work habits, or behaviors at school?
-What does your child say about school and the work they are being asked to do?
I ask that you Email me your list of topics or questions before Friday, November 15th so that I will have time to prepare. I have my own specific topics that I will cover as well such as: math, reading, writing, homework, classroom behaviors and work habits.
4. Familiarize yourself with Lexile Levels and the Common Core by watchng these short videos and if time check out the Common Core State Standards tab located on the main page of this website on the right hand side. I will refer to them at our conferences.
5. Finally, we will be setting goals for your student as a learner at the conference, try talking to your child about what goals they want to set for themselves this year, see if they are similar to yours. I will have this conversation with them in class as we discuss goal setting. Together we will help them to make the right decisions and support them in reaching their goals.
I value your support and look forward to meeting with you soon.
